Theme for 2015: Happy Birthday!

Package something extraordinary, whatever you like! Or turn a common thing into a small present, an interesting anniversary artefact, a birthday package that arouses desire. Consider for instance, what the jubilee edition of your favourite beverage, perfume or chocolate could look like. Show us how you imagine an original and limited edition package for a beloved tea or technological toy. Design an annual collection, festive wrapper, original wrapping paper or box for any gift. Be original, be innovative and surprise us!

For twenty years the Young Package competition has been giving hundreds of students from all over the world an annual opportunity to present their original ideas. Manyrespected designers took part in this competition in the early careers: Jan Čtvrtník was the first winner ever and few years later he worked for NASA, IKEA and Elektrolux. In subsequent years winners included:  Ladislav Škoda, chief designer of Tescoma, Jaroslav Juřica, author of the award-winning 002 chairs for TON company and well-known young designer Karel Vránek.

The competition is aimed at young designers up to 30 years of age. It is divided into two groups: the first is for university students and young designers up to 30 years of age; the other one is for high-school students. The winner of the first group will receive 1100 €. One of the winners will be also chosen for three-week remunerated internship at the Innovative Centre of the Model Obaly company. Others winners will also be rewarded financially and by other prizes donated by the competition partners. This year a special prize from the Model Obaly innovation centre will also be awarded.
