Meet the jury of Model Young Package 2020
The jubilee 25th year of the packaging design competition was accompanied by an outstandingly current topic of Personal Care. Creatively and responsibly, competitors could pack, for example, cosmetics, nutritional supplements, medical aids, medicines or hygiene items. Meet the jury members who evaluated artworks from all around the world.

Jan Činčera, the most prominent packaging designer in the Czech Republic, has studied the Secondary Technical School of Graphics, specialization: Paper Processing and Packaging Technology. After he met J. H. Kocman in 1983, he began to look at paper differently, it was no longer just an industrial material for him, but a poetic one. Between 1984 and 1989 he worked at Center of Packaging engineering of Prague Paper mills, after 1989 he taught at AVU as an assistant of professor Miloš Šejna in the studio of conceptual art. At the time he was primarily interested in original paper and books. In 1994 he has founded Studio Činčera, together with his wife Zora. The studio is concerned particularly with classic packaging design, but they also deal with 3D works from paper and foil.

The company Model Obaly is the founder of Model Young Package and also one of the most prominent European manufacturers of packaging with innovative solutions. In the extensive portfolio of this company, we can find packaging from both smooth and corrugated cardboard, simple transport boxes or premium packaging with special surface modifications. For a long time, they have been supporting young talented designers, who can not only participate in Model Young Package since 1996 but also in the Innovation Center at Model Obaly. Kateřina Švarcová works as a marketing manager at Model Obaly.
art director, graphic designer and illustrator
Pavel Fuksa is a Prague based art director, graphic designer and illustrator. Computer Arts magazine ranked him among the top 30 young graphic designers, and Lürzer’s Archive ranked him among the world’s top 200 illustrators three times in a row.
He works as a freelancer, previously working as a creative director for the agencies JANDL Bratislava, Labstore, JWT Dubai or TBWA Dubai. His campaigns and works are awarded at creative competitions (D&AD, Cannes, Epica, NYF, Eurobest, ADC * E), he himself regularly participates in the juries of international festivals. He creates advertising campaigns for clients such as Microsoft, Google, Twitter, Facebook, the British daily The Independent, Nike, Heineken and Budweiser. He created a Youtube campaign for former US President Barrack Obama.
His works are an ideological return to the hand-made graphics. Visually, his illustrations are very colorful, geometric and with minimalist shapes, often with a touch of black humour.

Head of Interior Design – Architecture, ŠKODA Auto a.s.
Peter Olah is an industrial, product, and interior designer with plenty experience of collaboration with international companies such as Škoda Auto, Volkswagen, Audi, Lamborghini, Ford, Adidas, Davidoff, MontBlanc, Heineken, Gotive, DeltroMedics, Gebra, Vitra, or glassworks as Preciosa and Lasvit. His designs have received many international awards, among others multiple Red Dot Award, ICSID Design Excellence award, the Slovak National Prize for design or awards of National Design centers. These permanently take part in exhibitions all over the world, such as Milano Design Week, London’s 100% Design, Frankfurt’s Ambiente fair and are published in design and architecture magazines. With his theoretical work focused on corporate identity in the car industry he gained his doctorate from the Slovak Technical University and after successfully completing his Habilitation he gained in 2018 the Docent title. Peter is a frequent guest lecturer at universities and global conferences discussing the connections between design, industry and society. Among these he is active as external tutor and project leader at the Slovak Technical University.
